The Holy Name Society plays an important role in supporting St. Mark School and Church through fundraising, fellowship, and service to our community. For decades, our members have worked together to raise funds that benefit our students, strengthen our parish, and help preserve the traditions that make St. Mark so special.

What We Do

Throughout the year, the Holy Name Society hosts and supports a variety of community events, including:

  • Lenten Fish Fries: Hosting four fish fries each year, a longtime St. Mark tradition that brings our community together.
  • Annual Meat Raffle: A popular event that draws a great crowd and offers an evening of fun, fellowship, and fundraising.
  • Msgr. Braun Memorial Golf Outing: A September tradition honoring Msgr. Braun and supporting the mission of St. Mark.
  • St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Organizing the parade float for our eighth-grade students and hosting the after-party.
  • Sports Awards Ceremony: Recognizing our student-athletes and presenting the annual Hempin, O’Grady, and France trophies.
  • Sr. Jeanne Memorial Award: Honoring a deserving teacher each year for their dedication and service.
  • Community Event Support: Providing bartending and volunteer assistance at other events throughout the year, including the HSA auction and Lionheart, where the Society has traditionally managed bar operations.

Making a Lasting Difference

The funds raised by the Holy Name Society have supported St. Mark in many ways throughout its history. In years past, the Society helped cover teacher and staff salaries during the summer months. Today, our primary focus is supporting school athletics and funding important capital improvements.

Recent contributions and projects include:

  • Approximately $20,000 toward new church lighting.
  • New gymnasium equipment and improvements, including a scoreboard, flooring, and sound system.
  • A new cafeteria sound system.
  • Kitchen renovations and the purchase of a walk-in cooler.
  • New uniforms for all St. Mark sports teams over the past two years.
  • Ongoing athletic expenses, including practice fees, training, and other program needs.

These efforts help provide our students with opportunities to learn, compete, and grow while ensuring that St. Mark’s facilities and programs continue to serve our school and parish community.

Fellowship and Membership

The Holy Name Society meets on the first Thursday of each month in the school cafeteria. Meetings include dinner prepared by one of our members, time to socialize, and a brief business meeting. Just as important as our fundraising is the fellowship we share as we work together for a common purpose.

Much of our involvement throughout the year takes place through volunteering at our events. Whether helping with a fish fry, lending a hand at a fundraiser, or supporting another school or parish activity, every contribution makes a difference.

Get Involved!

We welcome men who want to support St. Mark School and Church, build friendships, and make a meaningful difference in our community. You don't need to take on a major commitment to get started—attending a meeting and volunteering at an event are great ways to become involved.
